It’s a great idea to add video to your business description, marketplace item, or web page. Users like to watch video, and because of that, search engines like to direct users to pages that have video. You can add a video in any page editor field in the Business Control Panel that has this toolbar at the top:

There are two ways to add a video in your page editing window:

Inserting a Thumbnail that Links to a YouTube Video

This easy method creates a still image of the video screen, or “thumbnail”, on your page. When users click the thumbnail, they leave your page and watch the video on YouTube.

  1. Place your cursor on a new line in the location on the page where you want the video thumbnail to appear

  2. Click the ► icon in the toolbar (top right)

  3. Choose the size of thumbnail (or select Text Only Link)

  4. Click to select a video previously uploaded to your gallery, or

  5. Paste the link for the video in the YouTube URL field. To get the link, open a separate tab in your browser:

    1. Locate and click the video on www.YouTube.com

    2. Click the Share button under the video player

    3. Click the Copy button to the right of the link, at the bottom of the dialog box that opens

    4. Place your cursor in the YouTube URL field

    5. Use CTRL-V (Windows) or CMD-V (Mac) to paste

    6. Click Add Video

  6. You will return to the page editing window and the video thumbnail will appear in the location of your cursor

  7. You may wish to click one of the alignment buttons in the toolbar to place the thumbnail at left, centre or right of the page:

Inserting a Video Player Right On the Page

This method is slightly more advanced, but has the advantage of keeping the user on your page while viewing the video in an embedded player.

  1. Locate the desired video on YouTube or any video hosting website that provides Embed Codes. Click the Share button for the video and choose the Embed or Embed Code button in the dialog box that opens.

  2. Copy the code to your clipboard (with YouTube, simply click the Copy button next to the code)

  3. In the page editing window, click the Source button (top left) to open the HTML code view of the page content

  4. Place your cursor on a new line in the location in the code where you want the video player to appear. If you are unsure reading the code, you can go to the bottom of all code, place your cursor at the very end, and use Return to start a new line; you can move text around later in the more familiar text view by cutting and pasting

  5. Paste the Embed Code using CTRL-V (Windows) or CMD-V (Mac)

  6. Click the Source button again to return to the text view and the video player will appear in the selected location

  7. You may wish to click one of the alignment buttons in the toolbar to place the thumbnail at left, centre or right of the page:
