As a small business owner, you have knowledge and expertise to contribute to your community - and that’s one of the reasons your customers choose you. Creating content on your Business Profile that demonstrates your knowledge, helps consumers make good choices, or provides insight into your field or your business, doesn’t just enhance the experience of visitors to your pages - it also attracts search engines, which always prefer to show unique, interesting and enriching content that answers users’ questions or needs.

Where Your Pages Appear

When you create a Web Page, select Pin to Profile under the content field to create a link in the left column of your Business Profile under “Our Other Pages.” When you create your first Blog page, a Blog tab is added to the navigation bar of your Business Profile. Each subsequent Blog Post will be added to the top of that new page, pushing the last one down the page so they appear in order of recency. You can also Pin to Profile an individual Blog Post so a link to just that entry will appear under “Our Other Pages.”

Ideas for Your Blog

  • Your personal product reviews of new items you bring into your inventory

  • Regular instalments of advice in your area of expertise

  • Customer or client success stories

  • Ideas and inspirations - great for home furnishing stores, fashion, gift shops, florists etc

Tips:

  • When you create a new Web Page or Blog Post, post an update in the news feed with a short teaser and link to the page

  • Inserting pictures or adding video to the page improves the user experience and attracts search engines better

  • Be keyword-conscious - employ words in your copy that searchers who might be your prospective customers might type in search engines… but don’t cheat! Search engines will penalize “keyword stuffing,” where pages overuse keywords at the expense of interesting, well-written content
