If you have subscribed to a Value Program or higher, you can add your events to the community calendar. Visitors to your local ShopCity.com site can view all coming events from all businesses in the community by choosing Events from the menu, and today’s events are always displayed at the top of the news feed on our home page. Your own events will also show in the Calendar tab of your business profile.
Because of the frequency with which events calendars are updated and consulted, search engines are active in indexing these pages, so it’s also a great opportunity to improve your online “portfolio” in the eyes of search engines.
Events in the Calendar can be anything tied to a date, and you can use them to draw attention to specific aspects of your business. Some examples of events you should post:
Sales and promotions
Guest speakers, autograph sessions or other prominent visits
Seminars, workshops, classes and other learning sessions
Grand Openings and other celebrations
Earlybird or registration dates
Shows where you’ll be exhibiting or hosting
Community events you sponsor
“Awareness” days to encourage customers to visit to ask about products, services or areas of your expertise (you can even make these up for your business)
Pre-ordering dates for seasonal or excitement-generating items
Reservation-Only events (eg a restaurant’s Mother’s Day Brunch)
“Closed for Private” events, to highlight to the community you offer same
Seasonal Reminders starting points (time to book pool closing, winter tire change etc)
Plays, shows and concerts you host
